Vox was my original blog and has material back to March of 2008. WordPress and Blogspot go back to February and March of 2009. They are virtually the same concerning the article that I write. I wanted to make the articles available to people in whichever blog host that they are currently using to make it easier to leave comments. There are differences between the sites for other uploads, widgets and feeds.

The prayer blog on the site of my home church was started in January of 2009. I became the Prayer Director for our congregation and I post on the site concerning prayer and testimonies.

The Forum site was my very first venture into the blogging venue as I began documenting some things I was going through as well as looking for a place to start laying out my spiritual beliefs. I am amazed at the number of viewings things get there, including my sermon notes from my near weekly preaching at Comforts of Home.

Following are some of the most recent blogs.

Favre Season

I wrote the following article with the express purpose of submitting it to the site, Pardon My Bias. I have just submitted it and now I wait to see if they find it worthy of publishing.

Favre Season

John Schaenzer

July 25, 2010

There have always been two major seasons each year in the Twin Cities, winter and road construction. Last summer a new season was interjected as the Vikings fans were introduced to Favre season with the swirling drama of will he or won’t he play or retire. In an area where newscasts are regularly driven by weather and traffic, the Favre watch interjected itself to overwhelming levels. There was even a helicopter with video coverage of Coach Brad Childress picking up his new quarterback from the airport akin to the O.J. low speed pursuit.

Casa Rio, Anoka

Tonight after Sue and I went to see Inception at the local theater, we headed to downtown Anoka for dinner at Casa Rio.This was our third time at the restaurant and each time is as good as the last. The friendly staff and excellent food keep us coming back. To the best of my knowledge, they have only been open a few months, so 3 times for us, not counting the time I stopped to pick up some Apple Chimi desserts on the way home from work, is pretty good.

Inception

I wondered for awhile if the new DiCaprio movie was going to be over the top weird or if it had more rhyme and reason than the trailer showed. I am happy to say that there was plenty of rhyme and reason. Inception was directed by Christopher Nolan and starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page. I was also happy to see a few more recognizable faces as the movie played on.

I was glad that I heeded this advice and I now pass it on to whoever reads this.

Five Crowns In Heaven

Cornerstone Church of Blaine ministers to Suite Living, formerly Comforts of Home, in Blaine by providing church services on various Saturdays during the month. Today I provided the message below.

Five Crowns In Heaven

Suite Living

July 24, 2010

There are rewards awaiting the believer in heaven and today I am going to look at the five crowns that are mentioned in Scripture. They are:

  • · The Crown of Righteousness
  • · The Incorruptible Crown
  • · The Crown of Life
  • · The Crown of Glory
  • · The Crown of Rejoicing

Read the full article for descriptions of the recipients of each crown and the Scriptural support at the Forum.

The ride home from Target Field was adventurous with Tornadoes in the area, 70MPH straight line winds and torrential rain fall with standing water on the roads.
  • 15July10 Target Field and Joe Mauer
Joe Mauer was up to bat with a runner in scoring position and the Twins down by two. He flew out. The video was actually panning the stadium at night and hoping for the home run show. It was the first night game at Target Field that Sue and I had attended. The Minnesota Twins lost to the Chicago White Sox 8-7 in the first game back after the All Star break.
